This is oil pastel on paper. I was inspired by a series of 1970s Vogue magazine covers. This is one image in a series of three that I did, and each of the drawings had a particular color scheme. I liked the simplicity of the cover.
An octopus.
Both of these sketches I did at the same time. The skateboarder in particular was inspired by a guy I would often see on my way home from work. This particular time it was about 11 pm and I thought it was odd because usually when skateboarders are out at night they are with other skateboarders. So I sketched him.
I like the proportions of the skater :) It's always really fun to exaggerate drawings :3
ReplyDeleteThanks Dani! It was fun to draw him.
Deletethe Vogue cover is striking...wow. nice.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI agree! Great work!
ReplyDeleteAnd very good typography! I do not read vogue, but I could identify that it's a Modern typeface (Bodoni, Didot, etc).
Also, third cartoon reminds me a bit of Jhonen Vasquez. I don't know if you're familiar with him or not, but his drawings are very good (though the comic is a bit disturbing), He also did Invader Zim, which I think is delightfully creepy.
