1-point perspective of an interior from a photograph - first draft

Here is a draft of my initial idea for the 1-point perspective of an interior. I liked where it was going as a master bedroom, but it just felt too commonplace. Really the only thing that distinguished it from many of the other students' drawings was the decoration - not enough emphasis was put on the actual design of the space, in my opinion.

  1. Perhaps give the floor some tiles, or wooden strips; something to fill the void, where the carpet does not. In my opinion I think that would help, along with a ceiling light of some sort. A chandelier, a sunroof, ect.

  2. Hi Alex, sorry for the late comments.
I think it's a very good start. I agree with Jonathan on giving some details to give the room a bit of realism. If you think that you want to do more other than just decorating I would consider the layout of the room and how you would interact with the room, For example, suppose you read in bed, you may want to put your book on the side without getting out of the bed, so maybe a side table would be a good addition. What about the lighting when you read, do you need a table lamp? what sort of table lamp? You have a shelf on the left (I assume for clothing), Where would you change? and where would you put your dirty laundry as you change?

The other comment I want to make is that, I would clean up the line work and perspective a little bit as well. Again, overall, it's pretty good, but cleaning up the details would make the drawing much more compelling. For example, right now your pencil mug looks as if t's floating of the desk. if you ground it a little, add a bit of shadow (like we learned in class today), would make big difference,

    Please keep posting! Thanks!
