Hey all!
For my first post on here, I thought I'd put up some of my artwork that I did for competition in high school. These 3 all won in their respective categories, and I had fun making them.
I made this print in 9th grade. It's essentially just a crappy print of some trees in the desert, but the judges felt like it had some hidden meaning, so it won 1st place. They said the branches were like hands reaching up to the sky...

This is a (mostly) one-line drawing of my backpack using my non-dominant hand. I think I made it my junior year, and to color it, I put wet colored paper over it. I guess you can see a lot of my high school work was very abstract, but I guess the judges liked abstract.

This final project was made during my senior year, and it's easily my favorite piece I did in high school. It's a batik, so the material is actually cloth. To color it, I put a white cloth in a bowl of colored dye, then put hot wax on the areas of the picture I wanted to stay that color. You just keep repeating that process until the whole thing is colored, then iron the whole thing to melt away the excess wax.

  2. It's nice how all of these are different media. I think your trees are pretty atmospheric. It's good to let people see something in your work!
