2-point perspective exterior from a photograph

Here is my submission for the 2-point perspective drawing of an exterior from a photograph. Overall I'm satisfied with it - I'm very interested in architecture, so I'm thrilled that this actually turned out looking like a cool new building. The boxy aesthetic was actually harder to implement than I thought, but with enough practice of drawing boxes in perspective, it was possible. The apple logo is really more of a place holder for any logo, but I thought it conveyed the sense that this building could house a store on the bottom floor and offices or labs above. One thing I would like to get better at is drawing an exterior with the point of view of an interior designer - how can you convey interior space with an exterior?

  1. Hi Alex,

I think your building is pretty successful. If I understand you correctly, you are asking how to show the interior and exterior in one drawing. Two ideas come to mind. You could draw a two point perspective exterior but make one of the walls transparent, with kind of a dollhouse result. You could also try to do this with an elevation that includes interior detail. If you are interested in architecture you should check the resources page on this blog, there is a link to a page that has some good information about perspective in architecture.
