Intertwined

One thing I feel is important as a designer is to never limit yourself to one medium. I always like trying new things and seeing what I can do with new materials and such!

This is a wood burning/painting on just regular ply wood. I drew first in pencil then went over it with my wood burning tool. After that I painted it with acrylic paint (I use the brand Basic, I actually really love it. The only issue I've ever had was happening to get a bad tube where the paint was chunky. Either due to age or a mishap in production. Other than that I highly suggest it. You can get tubes from 4.99-10.99 I believe at hobby lobby.) I then finished it with painting just the top oval with a gloss coat.

As for the subject I decided to do two twins still in the womb. I tied up their umbilical cords to make the shape of a heart to symbolize the "sibling love". The title also has a play on words inter(Twin)ed. Plays off the twin part, the tied up umbilical cord, and the fact they are going to be forever bound by being siblings :)

Welp that's my post of the day! Let's see some of your work too!

  1. Looks really good! I really like not only the medium used, but the composition of the painting in the context of the oval shape constraint of the medium. The drawing is great and the painting is very good as well considering the chunky paint you had to work with.

    Thanks for sharing!
